Mitch Albom was born on May 23, 1958 in Passaic, New Jersey. He grew up wanting to be a cartoonist but after a while he switched over to music. He taught himself how to play the piano and played in different bands. Mitch albom went to college and earned a bachelors degree at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, majoring in sociology, yet he stayed strong with his dream of music. After he graduated he worked as a performer in America and in Europe for several years. He lives in Michigan with his wife, Janine. Mitch Albom was the author of many different best-selling books such as One More Day and The Five People You Meet in Heaven. His books have collectively sold 33 million copies around the world. Mitch Albom also writes screenplays and stage plays and he is an award winning journalist and broadcaster. He also serves on three different charitable boards and founded three charities in the Detroit area. He also has sold books in 42 different languages around the world. Mitch Albom decided to write the book because he thought it would be a good idea for people to understand about Morrie and what he was going through. He aslo wanted people to understand the lessons Morrie was giving to Mitch.
