Mitch Albom is the narrator of the book. He went to Brandeis University. Morrie Schwartz was his favorite professor, a professor of sociology. Mitch's dream was to be a musician, but instead he gave up to become a sports journalist. He met his wife named Janine after coming out of college. His newspaper company went on strike and he was out of work. He called up Morrie because he heard he was dying and came over. They talked for a while and decided to meet every tuesday. Every Tuesday Mitch would share his thoughts and take advice from Morrie. Mitch had a brother named Henry who got Pancreatic cancer when he was young. Although he overcame it, he didn't want to talk to anyone after. At the end of the book, Mitch gets back together with his brother who lived in Spain by writing letters back and forth.
