The Eleventh Tuesday
In the 21st chapter of Tuesdays with Morrie entitled “The 11th Tuesday: We Talk About Culture”, Morrie tells Albom about culture and the flaws that occur in culture. When Albom comes to Morrie’s house, he learns how to get the poison out of his lungs by hitting his back really hard. Later, Morrie talks about culture. He says, “[l]ook, no matter where you live, the biggest defect we human beings have is our shortsightedness. We don’t see what we could be. We should be looking at our potential, stretching ourselves out into everything we can become. But if you're surrounded by people who say ‘I want mine now,’ you end up with a few people with a military to keep the poor ones from rising up and stealing it.” Morrie then goes on about people that don’t know that they are alike so they do not form a big family.
